GENICON True 1080p High Definition Medical Video System

GENICON is pleased to announce that our True 1080p High Definition Medical Video System is being recognized with the 2008 Innovation of the Year at the 17th SLS Annual Meeting and Endo Expo 2008, hosted by the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons. GENICON's Production Manager, Ken Roger, will be attending to graciously accept the recognition on behalf of GENICON, Wednesday, September 17th, 2008 during the Welcome Reception.

The Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, established as a non-profit organization, seeks to further the education and expertise of surgeons and other health professionals in the diagnostic and therapeutic applications of Laparoendoscopic and minimally invasive surgical techniques. GENICON Launches New Products - Bariatric Instrumentation
and Specimen Retrieval Bag

Disposable Mono Polar and Specimen Retrieval Bag

GENICON today announced the worldwide launch of two new product lines to compliment its existing range of Laparoscopic instrumentation. These new products, launched into the US and International markets simultaneously, include the Specimen Retrieval Bag and Bariatric Disposable Mono-Polar Instrumentation.

The Specimen Retrieval Bag is an easy-to-use retrieval system designed to temporarily contain specimen and facilitate its removal from the patient during laparoscopic surgery. Designed to minimize contamination of the abdominal cavity, the Specimen Retrieval Bag with a 235+ CC capacity is ideal for Laparoscopic Cholesystecomy procedures.

The Bariatric Disposable Mono-Polar Instrumentation is an extension of GENICON’s existing 33cm Disposable Mono-Polar product line. The new instruments are offered in a 5mm diameter with a 45cm working length. This new product line includes a full range of scissors, graspers, and dissectors with both Ratcheting and Non-Ratcheting handles. These new instruments have been designed for use in a variety of minimally invasive procedures including laparoscopic gastric bypass and laparoscopic gastric banding.

GENICON Disposable Monopolar Instruments and Novation

GENICON announced today that it has been chosen in a three-year, multi-source purchasing agreement for Disposable Laparoscopic Instrumentation by Novation.

This agreement focuses on GENICON Disposable Monopolar Instrumentation and will take effect April 1, 2008. This agreement enhances the market offerings even further for the members of the VHA, University HealthSystem Consortium, and Provista groups.

SIAD Healthcare S.p.A. Acquires Minority Ownership in GENICON

GENICON and SIAD Healthcare S.p.A. announced today the formation of a new strategic partnership. Under this new partnership, SIAD Healthcare S.p.A. has made an equity investment in GENICON. With its minority ownership, SIAD Healthcare S.p.A. will have a position on GENICON’s Board of Directors, which will be filled by Professor Joseph LaPalombara of Yale University.

In August of 2006, GENICON and SIAD Healthcare S.p.A. entered into a distribution agreement, for the country of Italy, under which SIAD Healthcare started to market GENICON’s minimally invasive surgery products within the Italian market.

SLS Innovation of the Year 2007

The Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons (SLS) Annual Meeting and Endo Expo is one of the largest conferences of the year for surgeons and other health care providers that perform minimally invasive surgery. There were over 800 registrants that attended this years conference in San Francisco, California. GENICON was pleased to accept the 2007 Innovation of The Year Award on September 6th, 2007. GENICON’s US Director of Sales and Marketing Randy Rubin accepted the award and commented, " On behalf of GENICON, I am pleased to accept the Innovation of The Year Award for our 15mm Bladeless Trocar System. On March 1, 2007 GENICON hosted Mr. Gary Pearsons, President of BSI Americas Inc. Mr. Pearsons met with GENICON’s management team to review the history of the long association between the world’s most highly respected quality certification agency and GENICON. Over the last decade, BSI has bestowed 7 CE certificates and numerous Quality Management Systems certifications including its current registration to ISO13485:2003 to GENICON. Derrell James at ASQ Meeting

On February 22, Derrell James addressed section 1509 of the American Society for Quality at the Dubsdread Country Club. The presentation, titled "From MultiNational to Start-Up: Lean Transformation for Any Business" discussed the power of integrating Lean "technical" skills with Lean "social" skills and their ability to transform any organization. By characterizing the behaviors of successful and unsuccessful leaders of large, medium, and small companies, a pattern emerges that demonstrated that the ability to engage the workforce at both the technical and personal level is where real value is created. The presentation covered the combination of necessary skills for maximum benefit, and included examples of real, tangible, measurable benefits.

Derrell James is the Vice President of Operations for GENICON, an emerging leader in the design, manufacturing and distribution of endoscopic surgical equipment. He has eighteen years of experience in operations, executive management, and business development in high technology manufacturing and service industries. Previous to GENICON, Derrell served as General Manager of Sypris Test & Measurement, Plant Manager, Director of Business Development and Director of Lean Enterprise Productivity for Rockwell Collins, and Director of Manufacturing for Nacom Corporation. Derrell is a frequent speaker and writer on leadership, Lean and Six Sigma, and operational effectiveness, and has led transformations in automotive, aerospace and medical devices industries. A native of Griffin, Georgia, Derrell graduated from Georgia Tech with a BS in Management, and from Mercer University with a MS in Technology Management.




New Agreements with Premier

Premier and GENICON today announced new group purchasing agreements to take effect on April 1, 2007. Under the agreements, GENICON will offer endo-mechanical products to Premier’s acute care market, and continuum-of-care members. Gary Haberland, CEO of GENICON, participated as a panel guest speaker at the Florida District Export Council’s Export University held in Orlando, Florida. Export University offers a series of courses on exporting designed to help Florida companies begin an export initiative, and to gain increasing skills and innovation in their international sales. Mr. Haberland spoke of GENICON’s successful international sales and export strategy and answered questions from the audience on international logistics and export issues relating to the medical device industry.
